Nest box clearing

Today the nest boxes were checked and the empty 'bedding' cleared out.  Out of the 3 open fronted type nest boxes only one had been used and that was used by a wren. There were 9 holed nest boxes, of which 6 were taken up. All in all this is a good take up rate for the first year.  Only one nest box contained a youngster who hadn't managed to fledge, but looked big enough to.  All 6 of these nest boxes had been used by blue tits.
