Over the past weeks volunteers have been clearing areas of Himalayan balsam from the woodlands. Although this plant brings some much needed colour into the woods, its highly invasive nature and size means that other flora are unable to develop. In order to increase biodiversity it is necessary to try and control the spread of Himalayan balsam throughout the Reserve. In early summer, next year, targeted plants will be removed before they can flower.
